Oz-Con is a gaming, cosplay and anime convention nestled in the Ozarks. The convention is hosted by Missouri State University-West Plains students and the community. The three-day event will have a little bit for everyone including Cosplay Events, Collector Card Games, such as Magic, Warhammer 40k, X-Wing, Role Playing Games, and much more. All proceeds of the event will go to help the Child Advocacy Center. Come help support a good cause, browse the various vendors, join a workshop, and meet celebrities on April 22 – April 24, 2022.

The 21st annual Art Around Town exhibit features two- and three-dimensional artwork created by kindergarten through eighth grade students in the region. Eleven schools are participating this year. The artwork will be on display in the West Plains Civic Center mezzanine April 19-26 during regular business hours, with the awards ceremony taking place in the theater on Sunday, April 24 at 2:30 p.m.

YUMMY MENU – The Outdoor Kitchen will be serving quiche, ham ‘n’ beans with cornbread, chili, salads, healthy hot dogs, desserts, coffee, and tea for a donation.
The SILENT AUCTION is returning too, so please look around for nice used items that you’d be willing to donate.
This is a fundraising event for the not-for-profit Ozarks Resource Center (our first since 2019). A portion of the proceeds will go to the Yellow House Community Arts Center.

The Gallery, on the mezzanine, is open to the public during regular Civic Center hours.
Children’s mental health week is the first week of May, and this exhibit of 9-12 grade works will help celebrate and build awareness for children’s mental health. A digital art gallery will follow.
WPCA will host a Meet-the-Artists event at the close of the exhibit on Friday, May 6, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend, meet the artists, and discuss the pieces on display.

West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) will host their quarterly “Lunch with Art” event for current and prospective members on Monday, May 2, 2022, from noon till 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the West Plains Public Library. Ellen Hones Martin will be the featured presenter, demonstrating some of her pottery process.
In addition to the program, WPCA board members will open discussion on current plans, programs available through Arts Alliance partners, and invite discussion regarding future arts endeavors for the area. Here’s an opportunity to open conversations with current board members and contribute to the future of arts in West Plains.
Lunch will be catered by Dawn Dionne. Cost of the luncheon is $10 for WPCA members, $15 for non-members.
