“SkyFire 2026” Fireworks and Food Trucks hosted by Give Local First @ Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds
Jul 3 @ 5:00 pm

It’s back! After a 12-year hiatus, SkyFire returns to West Plains on Friday, July 3, hosted by Give Local First at its new location in the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds parking lot.

Gates open at 5 p.m., with fireworks lighting up the sky at dark. Come early and enjoy food trucks from 5–9 p.m. serving BBQ, burgers, tacos, hot dogs, desserts, drinks, and more.

Admission is just $5 per car. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and tailgates and make an evening of it with family, friends, and community fun under the summer sky!

Give Local First posted to SkyFire 2026
There have been questions both online and in person so I thought answering some of them here would be easiest.
Q: Is there an entry fee?
A: Yes, $5 per vehicle.
Q: Are cards accepted for the entry fee?
A: No, the entry will be cash only.
Q: What time are people allowed to enter the fairgrounds?
A: 5:00. The entrance off of Wayhaven will be the only entrance. There will be multiple workers taking money and directing people where to go. The 63/Wayhaven intersection will be closed and attendees will need to use Hubert Redburn Dr. or McFarland to enter
Q: Will the grandstands be open?
A: No. The fireworks will be set off in the arena and for safety reasons nobody is allowed in the grandstands.
Q: Where will people watch the firework show from?
A: This is a view from where you park event. We encourage everyone to bring a blanket, lawn chairs or truck bed to enjoy the show from. There will be space in between rows for people to view near their vehicle.
Q: Is alcohol allowed to be brought in?
A: No. Leaving the fairgrounds after the show will cause an increase in traffic and we want everyone to get home safely.
Q: What time are the food trucks open?
A: 5:00-9:00. At 8:45 the gate to get to the food trucks will be shut as the trucks shut down so they can safely watch the fireworks at dark. Those in line waiting for food or drinks will be able to remain until they receive their items.
Q: Will there be handicap parking?
A: Yes we will have a designated spot to accommodate those who need it. When you enter the parking area just let the worker know and they will direct you to the correct area.
West Plains Fire Department, Howell County Sheriffs Department, South Howell County Ambulance, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Howell County Rural Fire Department and West Plains Police Department will be in attendance to help ensure everyone stays safe.
Skyfire is meant to be an event that promotes community. Come out and enjoy the event with your friends and family and listen as the fairgrounds are filled with patriotic music and children’s laughter! This year we are starting with the basics and as the support continues more things will be added.

Live Music ~ Holy Roller @ Shenanigans
Jul 3 @ 7:00 pm
“Holy Roller? More like holy sh**!” That’s the review according to Nashville’s multi-Grammy award winning songwriter, Jim Lauderdale. The Richmond, VA based group is quickly proving that they intend to be the new face of southern rock. Holy Roller has been dominating the east coast, selling out nearly every show over the last year, not to mention some outstanding performances that landed them as festival favorites at Bristol Rhythm & Roots and Red Wing. Their sophomore album, Good Religion is out now and boasts some seriously riff-heavy, yet deeply intimate songs that are best played L-O-U-D. Holy Roller is down home, and damn good at it!

America 250 – Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration hosted by Explore West Plains @ MSU-WP Amphitheater
Jul 4 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Celebrate the Fourth of July with an old-fashioned community celebration inspired by traditional Americana and the upcoming America 250 anniversary!
Join Explore West Plains from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 4, on the campus of Missouri State University–West Plains, centered around the Bell Tower area. The free, family-friendly event will feature a non-motorized parade, kids’ activities, food trucks, and music.
At 10:15 a.m., the mayor will offer a welcome, followed by a patriotic sing-a-long and a performance by the Ozark AcousChicks Women’s A Cappella Chorus..
Parade lineup begins at 11 a.m. on Franklin Avenue near Broadway, with the parade stepping off at 11:30 a.m. The route will travel west on Cass to Pennsylvania, south on Pennsylvania, west on Webster to Franklin, then continue on Franklin back to the lineup area. The shorter route is designed to accommodate all ages and abilities.
Participants are encouraged to embrace the spirit of a traditional small-town Fourth of July with creative, non-motorized entries such as decorated wagons, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, strollers, wheelchairs, pull carts, and walking groups. Patriotic and America 250 themes are encouraged, especially handmade decorations.
For safety, children should be supervised by an adult, participants should remain with their entries, and pets must be leashed. Organizers ask that participants avoid fireworks, unsafe props, and throwing candy, with handing out treats preferred instead. Cars, trucks, ATVs, motorcycles, golf carts, and other motorized vehicles will not be permitted, though accessibility mobility devices are welcome.
Only family-friendly, non-political entries will be accepted as organizers hope to create a celebration centered on patriotism, creativity, and community spirit.
Families, churches, civic groups, veterans and veterans’ groups, scout troops, sports teams, and individuals are all encouraged to participate.
Make plans to join us! ❤🤍💙
