Comedy Night @ The Yellow House
Mar 7 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Tickets are only $10 in advance, and $12 at the door. That’s only $2 a comic if you order online, and also makes you look like a thoughtful planner! Our comics love the Yellow House, and those who support it, please come join us on Saturday March 7th! Tickets here.

Erik Paulson has nerve damage induced shakes, and he talks about how he has adapted in the funniest way possible. He can make one heck of a mixed drink!

Giovahna Calvetti gives her perspective as a short and spicy single mom in her 30’s. All she has to do to get people laughing is talk about her real life on stage!

Jessica Johns is a trans woman with an attitude, and a heart of gold. She’s extremely knowledgable about comic books and pro wrestling, and is also one of the silliest comics on this lineup!

Nate Schaefer is a fanny pack wearin’, clove smokin’, oddity that everyone can enjoy, and we still don’t know if he’s a vampire or not.

Chris Grant is a guy who’s been through the wringer, and keeps enjoying success, despite the odds. His comedy is absurd, well thought out and covers a wide array of subjects that almost anyone can relate to. Expect a funny song or two from him on the acoustic as well!

“Lucille and Betty – The Ozarks’ Fearless Female Journalists” presentation by Susan Croce Kelly, hosted by Ozarks Heritage Research Center @ Garnett Library
Mar 10 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

When a 24-year-old schoolteacher talked her way into a job on the Denver Express a hundred years ago (1923), she was in the right place, at the right time, with the right temperament to take advantage of opportunities that presented themselves in a changing world. Even before she knew much about writing a news story, Lucile Morris Upton met the President of the US; later she reported on leading feminists of the day, flew with aviation legend Wiley Post, covered the worst single killing of US police officers in the 20th century, and spearheaded a movement to preserve iconic sites of regional history. In the 1950s and early 1960s, her partnership with news photographer Betty Love made them both famous across the Ozarks for doing what they loved – covering the news and telling stories about where they had been.

Susan Croce Kelly has been involved in the writing world most of her life. During the course of her career, she has been a newspaper reporter in St. Louis and Springfield, practiced public relations in the US and Europe, was editor of two magazines, an executive speechwriter, and author of three award-winning books.

Her newest book, Newspaperwoman of the Ozarks, won the Missouri Library Association’s 2024 Literary Award. She says the book speaks to her love of the rapidly disappearing newspaper world.

She grew up in the St. Louis suburbs, holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, and a research master’s degree from Saint Louis University. Today she lives with her husband, Joel Kirkpatrick, and a black-and-white dog named Sunshine. They have three children and two perfect grandchildren.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. This event is also sponsored by Missouri Humanities as part of the Missouri Speakers Bureau and West Plains Council on the Arts.

Live Music ~ Bryan Copeland & Michael Stanton Armstrong @ The Yellow House
Mar 13 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

March 13th 7 to 9 PM 10 dollars at the door for a night of the smooth sounds of Bryan Copeland and Michael Stanton Armstrong live. Both of these preforming musicians vocals could be linked to global warming from melting so many hearts.

Bryan Copeland is a powerhouse vocalist that seamlessly weaves an eclectic mix of styles to produce a show like nobody else around. Bryan has been a fixture in the Springfield, MO music scene since 2010. He started the band Luna J. (Formerly Luna Jamboree) in 2008 and steadily grew that band to regional prominence. In the last five years he has grown his solo career as well, playing over 500 shows over that time.

For an independent artist, Bryan has been quite prolific. With his band, he released: four full albums, two EP’s, and six singles. As a solo artist, Copeland has released: nine singles, a limited live album, a Trio live EP, and a full studio album.

Bryan has also been the lead singer of three popular tribute projects as well, including: Mother’s Milk “A Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Tribute”, Jason Isbell Tribute, and Continuum “A John Mayer Tribute”. He is known for his variety of covers as well as his original music.

Bryan has appeared on local and regionally produced TV countless times (The Mystery Hour, Ozarks Live), has been on local and regional radio many times as well. His appearances at the Wild West Songwriter Festival in 2024 and 2025 are also highlights, with Bryan placing in the top 5 songwriters in 2024.

Bryan has shared the stage with popular artists and Grammy award winning artists, including: Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Famer Robert Cray, National act Jake Wesley Rogers, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Grammy winner Maxwell Hughes (The Lumineers), Sarah Buxton (Keith Urban “Stupid Boy” songwriter), Jackson Stokes (The Devon Allman Project, Jackson Stokes Band), and many others. In 2020, he was contacted by the talent agency that works for The Voice and he made it through all the preliminary rounds, only to be denied by the producers of the show on the verge of the blind auditions. Copeland, in February 25′, signed a deal with Young Outlaw Music, a Georgia based label, to work on the release of his single, “Hello.”

2026 is primed to be a pivotal year for Bryan as the release of his first full studio album as a solo artist will finally be finished. His plans involve touring regionally to promote that album, “Whiskey Will Never Leave Me”. More singles, and possibly another album, are in the works. Stay Tuned!

Michael Stanton Armstrong has been preforming, producing, or writing music in the Springfield scene for several years featured on KSMU radio and Ozarks First television broadcast. Michael is currently in Roxie and the Moon King and has grace stages of all sizes. Michael has a heartfelt soul that comes out in his songs that capture the crowd and paints a story as it unfolds through the microphone to your ears.
