Art Show – “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” @ West Plains Civic Center Gallery

The West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) and Ozarks Healthcare (OHC) through the Behavioral Healthcare Center have partnered to host a selection of high school students’ artwork on the theme of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.” The exhibit will be displayed in the Gallery at the Center in the West Plains Civic Center April 30 through May 6. The Gallery, on the mezzanine, is open to the public during regular Civic Center hours.
Children’s mental health week is the first week of May, and this exhibit of 9-12 grade works will help celebrate and build awareness for children’s mental health. A digital art gallery will follow.
WPCA will host a Meet-the-Artists event at the close of the exhibit on Friday, May 6, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend, meet the artists, and discuss the pieces on display.

Live Music ~ Harms Crossing & Girls Basketball State Championship Celebration @ Avenue Theatre
May 6 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

A community celebration for the Class 5 State Champion West Plains High School Lady Zizzers basketball team. Sponsor Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply and Bootleggers BBQ will provide a free BBQ dinner. Harms Crossing will kick off the event at 6:30 pm. Special presentations to the team by Missouri Representative David Evans and West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff will also take place. This free event promises to be a fun way to celebrate this very special basketball team.

2nd Annual CASA Blue Dress Run-Walk

Choose from a 5K Run/Walk or 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The run will start at Wages Brewing Company, East Towne Village, 1382 Bill Virdon Blvd. Register between 8-9:30 a.m. at East Towne Village or pre-register by April 29 at the CASA office, 101 Washington Ave., West Plains. Entry fees vary according to age, individual or group, and which event you’re participating in with all proceeds going to 37th Judicial District CASA. Call CASA office, 417-255-2100, for additional information. Wear blue, be silly, and have fun for a great cause! Trophies for best dressed and team with most participants.

OOIC is please to bring to you once again our Spring Tractor Show and Tractor Pull. This is a great event to bring the whole family to. We have something for everyone to see. Antique Tractors, Farm Equipment, Gas Engines, Steam Engines, Saw Milling, Buzz Sawing, Barrel Stave Sawing, Blacksmithing, Rock Crushing, Horse Drawn Equipment, Corn Shelling and Grinding, Kids Pedal Tractor Pull, Swap Meet, Antique and Classic Cars, Historical Display Cases, Weavers, Looms and the Farm House with Displays and the Ladies showing off the looms.

We have limited primitive camping and RV parking available.
And the most important information of all FREE ADMISSION and FREE PARKING. So bring the whole family.
We are a Non-profit organization and donations are welcome. We have painted milk cans around the museum and cook shack areas for donations.
We are looking forward to a great show. This is a rain or shine show folks. We will be here and enjoying a great time of fun and fellowship doing what we love to do. Show off old stuff.

If you have a tractor or a demonstration, please bring it along and join us in showing folks what all of the old stuff was like.
