To honor the memory of the major league baseball players who have called West Plains home, the community is invited to a dedication ceremony of the recently completed sculpture at the Ozark Heritage Welcome Center which is a tribute to Preacher Roe, Bill Virdon and Tedd Gullic, who all played in the majors.
Author David Jerome, who has published a biography of Bill and is currently working on a book about Preacher, will be in attendance. Anyone with memories of Preacher is invited to visit with David and share stories as he researches for his book. Some family members are also expected to attend.
We have also invited a food vendor to set up, and what is most fitting for a day about baseball? Mandy’s Hot Dogs! Mandy will be at the welcome center serving from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
